Sant Fraed House is a grade II property near Abergavenny which was recently bought by the Oldwalls Collection. kPa were appointed as the structural and drainage engineer for the project.
With an extremely tight construction programme of just 5 months, kPa designed a piled flat slab raft foundation and steel frame superstructure with engineered timber roof and external walls. With no overlapping trades, an extremely fast construction was achieved by Bradbar Construction.
High column loads on the cantilever slab required detailed deflection sensitivity analysis, performed by our finite element modelling software for accurate predictions.
In an area with no public drainage and close to the phosphate sensitive SAC (Special Area of Conservation) kPa carried out feasibility assessments of different forms of offline drainage solutions. kPa designed a new high capacity treatment plant system and bespoke drainage field for a robust and environmanetally friendly safe method of effluent treatment and disposal to ground. The final design utilisies a high performance sequential batch reactor combining aerobic sludge stabilization tank and submerged aerated filtration treatment tank and sand filter.
A bespoke NRW permit was granted following extensive hydrological risk assessment reporting and discussions with the agency.
We are pleased to announce that the new wedding venue was opened on time.
